I can help you with this one. I have bought at least 10 vehicles at GSA auctions. Here is the scoop.
No fees. You just pay for the car if your high bidder. Most places that conduct the auctions for GSA will accept credit cards, cash or cashiers check. You have to have your id with you. They will want to see your drivers license. They will also want your social security number. Make sure you bid on what you want to pay, it will be a contract with the federal gov. Yes there are usually a lot of people there. Go early and examine the cars carefully. They won’t let you drive them, but you can start them. They are good about disclosing defects and know problems. A lot of people get carried away and bid too much so do your research and find out what the car is worth and don’t go over that. I bought a car there about 4 months ago for my parents. I got a very nice and clean 2005 Chevy Malibu with 26K miles for $ 5900. A fair price for that low a mileage. That is the main advantage of going there, you can find very low mileage cars. If you have never been to a car auction, get close to one of the spotters and just tell him you are interested in the next car and they will usually help you with the bidding part. Some times it goes really fast and you can get overwhelmed. I hope this was helpful and good luck.
