Question by kmiller91: are government auctions safe?
I’ve been looking to buy a new car. I saw several government auction sights that charge a sign up fee and then you can buy cars for very cheap. are these reliable or safe? if so, are there any tips or tricks u should know before buying? if not, are there any reliable places you know of where u can buy a godd car for a relatively cheap price?

First off government listings are open to the public. There are private companies that will give you a list of where the auctions are for a price or you can search online for free. Second these are cars that have been repoed or were federal cars so they have probably been used and abused but if your looking for a cheap car it’s a good way to go but it might cost you more in the end

If you go to a government auction then you may be buying a lemon. There was a reason that this car was put there and not in some car dealers showroom or place. Some people will buy cars from others who want to make a trade and or get a car that is more economical but i am not sure about government auctions , they can take you for a ride and make you pay all sorts of unnecessary fees just to rip you off and make money. Car max is a good place to buy a used car or try your local car dealership they might have good used cars on their lot.

They’re pretty legit. A good tip would be to arrive early and stick to your budget. That way you’ll know which cars are getting the most attention. You want to stay away from those cars because there will be a lot of people bidding on them. Which tends to drive the price up.
